Some IT technicians work for an outside support service that helps clients on a contract-basis. Businesses across all industries need computer networks that run smoothly 24 hours a day. As a result, some network technicians work nights and weekends.

According to this handbook, employment of computer network support specialists is expected to grow 18 percent from 2010 to 2020, which is about as fast as the average for all occupations.
The Occupational Outlook Handbook states, “More support services will be needed as organizations upgrade their computer equipment and software.” The handbook also projects that “Employment growth should also be strong in healthcare industries. This field is expected to greatly increase its use of information technology (IT), and support services will be crucial to keep everything running properly.”

Computer Networking Management and Certification
While taking a certification exam is not required for students of the Computer Networking Management program, earning a certification gives you credibility and marketability. We encourage graduates of the program to sit for the CompTia + exams, the CompTia Network + exam, and the Microsoft® Certified Professional exams. Depending on your campus and your career focus, you may be eligible to take other certification exams as well. Earning a certification will give you the added advantage of entering your new job field with proven skills and certifications that are recognized all over the country.
