Branford Hall’s Professional Fitness Trainer Program

The curriculum for Branford Hall’s Professional Fitness Trainer program provides students with the skills they need to excel in their careers. Students will receive training in exercise programming, interpersonal communications, and marketing that is required in commercial, corporate, or personal training environments.  Below are some sample courses:

Title of Course Course Description
Anatomy & Physiology, I and II These courses provide a study of the human body. The first course focuses on the structure and function of the muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems. The second course looks at body systems, such as the respiratory system, endocrine system, and digestive system. In these courses, students will also learn basic system-related medical terminology.
Kinesiology, I and II Kinesiology is the study of anatomy, biomechanics, and muscles including the principles of human movement. The first course focuses on the description of structure, function, and kinesiology of the upper body extremities, while the second course concentrates on the lower extremities.
Introduction to Business and Sales Students in this course will learn how to become a successful business owner. The course will focus on basic business principles and how to create a successful career as a personal fitness trainer. Students will also learn about office productivity software, marketing materials, resume development, business plan development, licensing, and continuing education in the fitness industry.
Diet and Nutrition

Students in this course will learn about the basics of nutrition and diet analysis. The students will examine their own nutritional concerns to learn how to support their clients on making wise food choices. Students examine topics such as nutrients, dietary guidelines, hydration needs, and vitamins, as well as energy balance, weight control, nutrition fads, and supplements.

Exercise Prescription for Special Populations This course gives students a comprehensive practical experience in the category of clients with special needs, including pregnant women, the elderly, preadolescents, and athletes. Potential clients with respiratory, metabolic, nutritional, and orthopedic concerns are discussed in depth in this course.

The curriculum helps prepare students with a strong foundation for a rewarding career in the field of health and wellness. It provides the skills that students need to build their business, maintain a client base, perform exercise-related assessments, design safe and effective exercise programs, and support nutrition in healthy lifestyles.
