Branford Hall’s Bohemia Students Give Generously to Help Those in Need

Students at our Long Island career training campus get in the holiday spirit

Bohemia, NY- “Remember that that happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.” These words by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. are taken to heart by the students at our Long Island campus of Branford Hall in Bohemia.

We all know that living on a student’s budget is not easy, but somehow our students manage to find a way to give generously during the holiday season. This year, the season started off with a Thanksgiving meal drive, where we were able to provide full Thanksgiving meals for five families. A lot of students pitched in, realizing that contributing even a small amount can add up to a meaningful food basket for a family in need.

The staff and students in Bohemia are also very thankful and appreciative of the students who have served in the US military. This year, we gave appreciation bags to our men and women who have served, as a small token of our gratitude for their selflessness and service to our country.

More giving activities and festive activities are planned. Students participated in a Dress Down day, where they were allowed to dress down in exchange for contributing one dollar to the Student Council. They also enjoyed a potluck dinner before Thanksgiving. Everyone lent a helping hand to the dinner, whether by bringing in food items, setting up the tables, serving others, or cleaning up at the end. A group effort made it possible for everyone to enjoy a warm meal before the holiday break.

Holiday events liven up our career training classes

Branford’s Bohemia campus is home to three career-focused training programs that prepare students for the world of work: Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, and HVAC/R. During our social events over the holidays, students have the chance to take a break from their classes and get to know each other. Over the holiday season and throughout the rest of the year, we believe in offering a welcoming atmosphere where students feel comfortable to learn and grow.

With over 400 students enrolled at Bohemia in our daytime and evening classes, we truly can make an impact when we put our minds and hearts to a giving cause. Kudos to everyone who is contributing to making the holiday season special for others!

Stay tuned for more activities during the month of December. From decorating the hallways to helping those in need, there is always something happening in Bohemia!
