Food drives, gift drives, decking the halls…all while taking career training classes!
The old saying goes, “If you want something done, ask a busy person.” During this busy season at Branford Hall’s Jersey City campus, there is no doubt about it… a LOT is getting done!
First and foremost, students are studying for their classes. Our courses are in full swing, with offerings in computer networking and security, graphic design and animation, medical assistant, and medical billing and coding.
What amazes us every year is how the student body—across these four career programs—comes together during the holiday season to help those less fortunate. This year, students and staff worked together to hold two food drives: One for Thanksgiving, and the other for the December holidays. It is so wonderful to see the genuine commitment of Branford Hall students to helping families who may not be able to afford holiday meals. In addition to the food drives, the students prepared and distributed sandwiches for homeless people in the Jersey City community.
Students also come together to support one another. On a student’s budget, there are some of our students who may struggle to provide for their families over the holidays, especially students with young children. For this reason, the students put up a “wish tree” where students in need could receive presents to help make their families’ holidays a little brighter.
The holiday season also brings a festive and fun spirit to the campus. We held a door decorating contest to challenge students to get creative and express themselves. The winning class was treated to a pizza party. And all students were invited to participate in a hot chocolate and marshmallow day. No matter what your age, a cup of hot chocolate always hits the spot! With all of these events underway, the Jersey City campus truly came to life this holiday season.
Branford Hall believes in providing social opportunities and community giving projects as part of our career-focused training. We want provide you with a well-rounded experience that teaches you not only the technical career skills you will need, but also gives you a sense of community. Feeling part of your school community can help improve your educational experience, and giving back to your larger community is a great starting place for going out into the world of work.
Branford Hall wants to express our admiration for the generosity of our students and to wish everyone a happy holiday and a healthy start to 2016!
