Applying Your New Skills at Your Externship
The Computer Network Management program at Branford Hall includes an externship where you will have the opportunity to apply the technology skills that you learned in the classroom. During your externship, you may have opportunities to work in areas such as installation, preventative maintenance, networking, or trouble-shooting. This gives you on-the-job training and builds your resume before you have even completed your training. This is one more way that Branford Hall students come prepared to their first job.
Computer Networking Management and Certification
At Branford Hall, the Career Placement Services department encourages all students who have performed successfully in our courses to take a certification examination.
While computer networking management specialists are not required to be certified, having a certification may give you an advantage. Certification demonstrates your commitment to your new career, and may provide you with better career opportunities, better pay, and more job security.
There are a number of nationally-recognized organizations that offer a variety of certification exams for computer networking management technicians. Below are a few examples.
- CompTIA A+ Certification/CompTIA Network+ Certification
CompTIA provides vendor-neutral certification examinations. The courses at Branford Hall are designed to help students prepare for the Comp TIA A+ certification and Network+ certification. The student is responsible for scheduling the exams at a CompTIA-approved location. The student is also responsible for the cost of the exam.
These certification exams are offered at an off-campus location. In addition, you may be eligible for additional certification exams not mentioned above. The instructors and Career Services representatives at your campus will share these opportunities with you as you near graduation.
