|Title of Course
|Introduction to Insurance (Health Insurance)
||This course introduces students to the insurance industry, insurance terminology, and the factors associated with reimbursement. Students also receive an overview of insurance plans with a focus on managed care systems, as well as eligibility and benefit structures.
|Medical Office Procedures
||Students are introduced to administrative duties and responsibilities of a medical facility including telephone skills and scheduling appointments. Medical records formatting, retention of files, release of information and destruction of records is discussed. Students will also become familiar with computerized account management systems. The student studies medical terminology, anatomy and disease processes.
|Electronic Health Records
||This course will cover the usage and management of health information and the electronic health record (EHR). Students will be introduced to the use of health information and the EHR for any setting within the health care industry from acute, ambulatory, long term, home health, specialty, population health, and personal health that encompass the continuum of care.
The Health Claims Specialist Curriculum
This curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in health claims, medical billing and coding, and prepares them to process medical insurance claims in any number of health care or insurance industry settings. Students who complete the coursework successfully are better prepared for certification exams, should they choose to take them. Branford Hall’s classroom coursework, along with its hands-on externship¹ program, gives students the skills and knowledge necessary to begin a new career.
