Branford Hall’s Paralegal Program

The Paralegal courses provided at Branford Hall give students the foundation they need to excel in their careers. At Branford Hall, you will gain skills in areas such as criminal law, civil litigation, real estate law, commercial law, and family law.

Some of the courses in the Paralegal program are taught online, while others are taught on campus. Below are some sample courses:

Title of Course Course Description

Advanced Topics in Law

This course teaches current topics in law including administrative law, workers' compensation, immigration, landlord-tenant law, debt collections, and foreclosures.

Criminal Law

In this course, students will receive an introduction to criminal laws and procedures. Students will study topics including the classification of crimes; the filing of complaints, motions, and briefs for criminal proceedings; and legal procedures used in criminal law.

Wills, Trusts, and Estates

This course provides students with the tools and laws necessary to draft, review, and execute a valid will. Students also learn how to create a trust and how to administer and probate an estate.

Business Organizations

This course covers the forms of business entities, and familiarizes students with the formation of corporate partnerships and limited liability companies.

Legal Document Preparation

After taking basic word processing courses, students will explore advanced word processing applications that are used in today’s law offices, including machine transcription techniques and applications.

The curriculum helps prepare students with a strong foundation for a legal career, emphasizing both civil and criminal law procedures. With this challenging coursework, combined with an externship placement, students are prepared to make a valuable contribution in a fulfilling legal career.
