Massachusetts Professional Medical Assistant Courses

Title of Course Course Description
Anatomy and Physiology (Body Systems and Terminology) This introductory course looks at the human body, and studies the anatomy and physiology. The course also looks at the body systems, as well as diseases and disorders of these systems.

Medical Clinical Procedures-A (Laboratory Procedures)

This course covers many of the main areas that medical assistants need to know such as: 1) minor surgery in the office 2) surgical and medical asepsis and infection control, including CLIA and OSHA regulations, and 3) safety in the clinical environment.

Medical Clinical Procedures-B (EKG and Pharmacology)

In this course, students learn skills and terminology related to the circulatory and respiratory systems, including electrocardiography (EKG) and rehabilitative practices.

Billing, Insurance, and Coding (Medical Administrative Skills)

Billing systems and medical insurance are covered in this course, as well as an overview of codes for diseases and procedures. The course also focuses on methods of payments.
