Today’s graphic design professionals are trained in both print media and digital media, and are part of a dynamic industry that continues to evolve with new developments in technology.

This career-focused program at Branford Hall provides students with the fundamentals of graphic design and animation, and how to apply them in both print and digital applications. Students start with design basics, such as the principles of drawing and sketching, finding color solutions, and graphic layout techniques. They also study digital imaging and image editing, interactive web development, web scripting, multimedia production, and video and audio production. During this program, students develop skills in teamwork, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.

Graduates of the Graphic Design and Animation program are prepared for entry-level positions as web designers, web developers, graphic artists, multimedia designers, Photoshop specialists, and more.

A Day in the Life for Graphic Design and Animation

As a graphic artist or web designer, your typical day may include:

  • Working with a team to gather information about a new project
  • Collaborating with team members regarding strategies to reach your audience and developing your design concepts
  • Gathering or creating the graphics, images, colors, fonts, and text you will need
  • Working with design software to create layouts, according to specifications
  • Following established protocols for reviews and approvals of your designs
  • Making changes and adjustments as required by your supervisor or clients
  • Reviewing design for errors before finalizing
  • Coordinating with outside agencies, clients, and printers as needed
